Minor Programmes
Panchayat Awareness
Awareness meetings are being organised in gram sabhas for creating awareness among the villagers about panchayati raj systems so that they can avail of the government facilities available for them. So far nearly 50,000 people have been covered through such meetings.
Additionally, women pradhans and members have also been given training to make them aware of their rights and panchayat laws.
Cultural Programme
If something is put before the masses in an entertaining manner, the masses understand and assimilate it. The organisation has a cultural wing which highlights problems of people and strikes at bad customs through songs, plays, folk songs, etc., with a view to provide a solution to them.
Library
Manav Uttan Charitable Trust is running a small library in its office. Local newspapers, magazines, books and other informative material is available in the library for the people to use them for increasing their level of knowledge and awareness.
Other minor programmes included skill development for SCs, STs and OBCs, science fair, road safety, etc.
Advocacy and Lobbying
Manav Utthan Charitable Trust is carrying out advocacy on the following issues:
- Land lease
- Panchayati raj
- Proper wages
- Exploitation
- Right to information
The advocacy is being carried out through women organisations, parents’ organisation, self-help groups, youth forum and farmers’ forum.
Efforts are underway to enable the people get wages fixed by the Government. Towards this end, the masses are being made aware on the functioning of the Government and prevailing corruption.
